Happy Monday! Here in Portland, Maine we are bracing for yet another major snowstorm due in tomorrow! Predictions run between one to two feet of snow. It appears winter is not done with us.
Usually storm forecasts compel people to visit their local grocery store for supplies. Bread, milk, and toilet paper. That sort of thing. Not me! The threat of a major winter storm sends me to the Art Mart on Congress Street for supplies!
I bought a pad of genuine artist canvas, two sets of brushes, and a tube each of white and black oil paint! My plan is to practice capturing light and dark and shadow with basic forms using a wash of oil paint and mineral spirits. Like the first apple we painted in last week’s Beginners Oil Painting class at Roux and Cyr International Fine Art Gallery.
I will keep you posted on the weather, promise!
