I went with a friend to a train show in Timonium, Maryland today. I don’t know what possessed me to go.
I lasted ten minutes. Then I waited in the car.
Then we went thrifting! Yay!
I found a twin size quilt at Goodwill for darling daughter’s bedroom. $20. I think it will look lovely in her room and it will keep her feet warm. There were two of the same quilts there. I was tempted to buy them both. I heart quilts!
We went to a nice consignment store next to Goodwill. They had some Mackenzie-Childs courtly check curtains. I ADORE courtly check!!! They were $50 each panel or $100 a pair. They retail for $185 a pair. As much as love courtly check, I left them behind.
Then at a random side of the road flea market, I found an Ann Taylor Loft dress form. $30. For darling daughter’s room.
At flea market:
I suggested “Catherine” as a name to darling daughter. We name all our dress forms, cars, and computers. Darling daughter has taken it under advisement.
Then, from same vendor, a snow flocked Christmas tree! Also $30. It has been years since I have put up a tree. Usually we are traveling so I don’t bother. This year I am bringing back the tradition.
I am doing it for Skippy, the dear deer on the wall in the living room. He likes the tree. It reminds him of the forest.
I was keeping Skippy as a surprise for you all. I won him at an auction in Pennsylvania in September for $25. And I have been collecting the pink floral art work for a gallery wall with good ‘ole Skippy as the star. I guess the cat’s out of the bag now.
I need to fluff the tree up. I plan to decorate with white lights and pine cones. I am going to gather pine cones at Jane’s house Monday afternoon. Very natural. For Skippy’s benefit, of course. I will post photos once complete.
Then for $0.50 I found this marvelous hook. I have a most excellent plan for this hook. I will let you in on it tomorrow.
Finally, for $3, a small Pennsylvania plate. Timonium is in northern MD, on the PA border.
Not as good of a deal as the three large, one small plate for $6 that we found last week at the Andover Thrift Shop in Massachusetts!
I have a boatload of these souvenir dishes. I love the idea of visiting someplace and bringing back a momento. And collecting dishes from the places you visit. Maybe it is the tour guide in me that makes me love these dishes so.
Happy Saturday everyone!
