As a lover of compound words, I could not resist starting a blog on WordPress.
I seek to live an artful and art-filled life. I am interested in extra lovely sized fashion, vintage accessories, found objects, handmade items, painted furniture, antique homes, natural beauty, great food, and lovely things.
However, contrary to any indication in the posts contained herein, I am not an expert artist in the sense of a juried art show, I-know-what-I-am-doing-here sort of artist. Simply, I am a lover of loveliness in all its various forms. I aspire to be the best artist I can be. I am willing to try any creative endeavor at least once!
If I were a bird, I would be a magpie. I love to bring bright, shiny objects back to my nest. Antique shops, art exhibits, auctions, flea markets, yards sales, and thrift shops are my natural habitat. While not necessarily materialistic, I am somewhat acquisitive for I love to surround myself with loveliness. I value vintage and antique items for their craftsmanship, beauty, and utility. While most folks are interested in the latest and greatest upgrade to any and all devices, I almost always opt for retro.
I sometimes design and fabricate upcycled clothing for myself, an extra lovely (XL) sized woman, from clothes found at thrift shops. My inspirations are boho, Lagenlook (German for layered look), and Mori (Japanese for forest) girl styles. The more creative, unique, and comfortable, the better.
As a young person, I traveled a bit and I enjoy telling stories about my life on the road.
My darling daughter, a college junior, is my inspiration. She is fabulous. I speak of her frequently.
We recently relocated from Maryland where we lived for nearly twenty years to Great Diamond Island off the coast of Maine! I am currently writing quite a bit about the relocation and our new home!
I am a feminist.
I thank you for your interest in my musings.
