Hello dear readers! The beautiful fall foliage here on the island is mostly on the ground now. What hasn’t fallen is likely to come down tomorrow as quite a bit of rain and high winds (40 knots) are forecast!
This morning the wonderful maintenance crew at McKinley Estates in Diamond Cove have tidied up! The leaf blower was out early. The leaf piles get so big, they break out the snow plow!!!
The results are a lovely looking patio:
My next door neighbors, Marjorie and Steven, go back to Texas on Saturday. I will miss them. I have been invited over for a glass of wine this evening. They also invited me to partake in an island tradition where they pass along the leftovers from their refrigerator to a year round resident. Yay me!
In truth, Rachel and George, across the street and Jane and Dick, around the corner, have already recently hit me up with their refrigerator leftovers before they turned to snowbirds and departed for Florida! I am swimming in condiments! I am a lucky girl.
My family will be here tomorrow on the island for the weekend, so we will use up some of these generously donated supplies! My mom and dad will also turn into snowbirds shortly and head to their winter roost in Florida. I won’t see them for about six months unless I decide to head south for some warmth and sunshine this winter. We shall see!
