I went thrifting today. I know you all are wicked surprised to hear that I went thrifting. I bet I could knock you all over with a feather right now.

Did the sarcasm come across?

Of course, I went thrifting!!! It is what I do! And, I had a wee bit of the luck of the Irish today!

For Mom, two pieces of Lennox for her Lenox problem, I mean, collection ($6):

For darling daughter, a philosopher’s leather satchel. Nothing says “I am a serious student of philosophy” quite like a leather satchel ($25). This one was made in Holland. Genuine leather. I think her laptop will fit inside. Lovely.

For myself, five pink metal tole napkin rings ($1). I know a lot of folks don’t use napkin rings or cloth napkins. But we do. We stand on formality around here. Real cloth napkins with every meal are a small touch that makes a difference. They lift up even the most mundane bowl of cornflakes.

Then I found a book ($0.50) on bedrooms by the editors of Victoria magazine. I know I have hundreds of photos of beautiful bedrooms on my Pinterest boards, but for $0.50 I just had to add this volume to my extensive design and decorating book collection.

Finally, a pragmatic purchase for myself. A Land’s End down puffy vest ($4). Good for the NH spring!

A good thrifting day, all in all. The Lenox and leather satchel were from SMILE. I thrifted the other items at Vintage Values in Leonardtown, MD on a shopping trip with friends.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Yours, Merryweather
