Today was another double hitter Tuesday: thrifting and art!!!
For a change, let’s start with the art. Barb got the experimental art group together for our monthly project. Today Shelby taught us how to make fabric brooches. It involved fabric, hot glue, a small circle of felt, a pin back, some bling, and a pair of scissors. Without further ado:
I love it. Big and bold, like me. Here I am modeling it:
Barb also showed us how to make paper and fabric beads. That was fun, but I only made one bead and I don’t have a photo of it. Ah well.
So the thrifting went well. I went to the Vintage Values where clothes are $1. Darling daughter made out like a bandit!
A Banana Republic sundress because Spring will be here before we know it. She might want this shortened, which with my mad sewing skills would be possible. Just $1.
A Banana Republic spring weight cardigan. $1.
A light grey Forever 21 cardigan. $1.
A Ralph Lauren white tee. Yup. $1.
A black Old Navy three quarter sleeve v neck blouse. Only $0.50.
A light pinkish peach lace Forever21 blouse. $1. Even if she doesn’t wear this, it will look fabulous hanging on the clothes rack in her room. It is reminiscent of the wall color. $1.
And, the splurge, at $8 a brand spanking new pair of Ralph Lauren black leather flats. Open toe. Nice for the warmer weather.
Then I went to Hooks and Hangers up the street. There I found a pale pink Gap knit cap for the colder weather. I love the color. Just $0.95.
A pair of linen pants for myself for the warmer weather. $1.
And, last but not least, the piece de resistance, something I have been searching for endlessly: the first book in the Harry Potter series, in hardback!!! Just $1!!! It looks unread! It is for darling daughter’s friend, Jordan.
Now the pressure is on to find books two through seven! I think it is great that the first Harry Potter book I found was, in fact, the first Harry Potter book! Wouldn’t it be amazing if the books revealed themselves to me in chronological order?!?
The Thrifting Gods smiled down on me today!
