This morning at eight we departed my parents house for places unknown. After a filling breakfast at Jube’s in Whitinsville, we headed north on Route 495.

Our first stop was Andover, Massachusetts where darling daughter attended high school at Phillips Academy. We had a nostalgic look around. Then we went to the Andover Thrift Store. WHERE I SCORED!

First, a raspberry red 100% cashmere sweater for Nancy to make mittens. For $1!

Then a white J Crew sweater for darling daughter. Also $1.

Three large souvenir dishes. One small souvenir dish. All for $6. I collect these.

Four metal rose napkin rings. $0.50.

Decorative metal bluebird of happiness pail. Also, $0.50.

And, wait for it…

Two small white pintuck and lace feather filled Ralph Lauren decorative pillows. For darling daughter’s bedroom.

The original price tags still attached. $175 each pillow! That is a cool $350 in little pillows!  I paid $7 for the pair!!! Or 2% of the original value.

I can’t even envision living in a world where I paid $350 for two small decorative pillows. $7 yes. $350 no. Maybe I lack imagination.

From Andover we got back on the highway. Our next stop was Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts. We availed ourselves to some delicious Tripoli pizza.

We then headed north on Route 1A along the New Hampshire sea coast. Beautiful vistas. A quick stop in Hampton Beach, NH to use the facilities. Then back on 1A through Rye and Portsmouth.

The next stop was at Nubble Lighthouse in York, Maine. Very picturesque. It was reasonably warm but very windy!

After driving around a bit more, we went to Markey’s in Seabrook, NH for some seafood. Which was delicious. I had a lobstah roll. Yum.

Then we went home. That is it!

Yours, Merryweather
