Our Experimental Art Group met this afternoon. Today’s project was Sharpie Silk Scarves. Fun!

Under Barbara’s tutelage, we used plain white silk scarves, Sharpie markers, and 91% proof rubbing alcohol. Here is one result:

My second try at silk scarf making yielded this result:

I was going for a Shibori style effect. In other words, Japanese tie dye was my inspiration. What was interesting was the different patterns everyone came up with. Florals, abstracts, and Art Deco designs were popular with the artists.
